europanel collaborated with the Buildcorp Interior’s team to value engineer an internal building façade blade system, moving from the specified solid timber to a more durable prefinished laminate finish.

Through the shop drawing process europanel created the set-out for the structural steel frame that was to be installed by steel contractors to fix the battens to. This framing was designed to align with the existing window facade to essentially become concealed in appearance behind the battens.

europanel carried out the supply and installation of the euroBLADE batten system.

This magnificent installation, fondly referred to as the “waffle” ceiling by the architect because that’s what it looked like on the reflected ceiling plan, was grand in scale at 450mm on the vertical face (depth) incorporating perforated euroHUSH lids to the upper edge on the 1m square grid.

europanel implemented a suspension system capable of holding this feature ceiling in position and streamlined the fabrication process so the veneered panel system could be delivered flat packed for a quick onsite install to meet the programme. The large beam profile was in American Oak veneer with a warm stain finish and the design incorporated perforated lids in matching veneer to benefit the acoustic ambience in this active lobby space.

europanel collaborated with the Meriton design team to incorporate both S1 and S2 euroBLADE profiles into the curved walls of the lobby of their new towers at Carter Street in Homebush NSW.

To streamline the process, europanel also supplied and installed the structure of the walls behind the cladding, saving the client both time and budget, as it facilitated in streamlining the fabrication of the curved euroBLADE to match the walls that we had already shop drawn.

The euroBLADE was fabricated in Polytec’s Natural Oak Ravine prefinished board.

europanel are extraordinarily proud of being the ‘go to’ supplier for challenging projects requiring a tailored outcome and our fully customisable euroBLADE has been used to dramatic effect in creating the stunning Ice Cave at the Skye Hotel Suites in Sydney’s CBD.

Following on from the successful supply and install of our custom suspended euroBLADE to form the striking porte-cochère ceiling for QT Hotel at the Pacific Bondi Beach, europanel were sought out by the same contractor as a solution focused supplier that would take on the projects that other manufacturers didn’t want to, or know how to, do.

Firstly, there was the spectacular design and renders by renowned architect, Koichi Takada, and then there was the all-important questions about ‘how to’ recreate the concepts into the physical form and ‘what materials’ would withstand the constant humidity and moisture levels prevalent within a heated swimming pool environment and this is where europanel come into their own.

The europanel design team were brought in at the early stages of design development by the Arc by Crown project team, allowing them to collaborate, interrogate and have the materials tested to meet the brief and consequently attain the requisite engineer certification for the ‘heavy duty suspension system’ installed.

The project was realised on site by the europanel delivery team, from fabrication to installation, including the all-important shop drawings integral to this seamless and breathtaking outcome.

The europanel team did a magnificent job completing this project spot on budget and delivered from concept through to completion within a 16-week program.

The complete transformation of the lobby and lounge areas at 360 Collins Street is markedly enhanced by the warmth and texture of the timber wall panels lining the 6-metre-high walls.

Solid American Walnut timber with a custom edge profile was originally specified but the BCA requirement of a fire group rating of Group 2 required a complete rethink of the materials that could be used without compromising the design. The europanel team’s creative solution well and truly met, and exceeded, that brief by creating the same design profile in a fire rated MDF substrate, vacuum formed in American Walnut crown cut veneer which not only met the Group 2 rating but also provided substantial cost savings.

An individual split batten shadow panel system was also engineered with all mounting blocks hidden from view which was crucial to the designer’s desire of creating a ‘floating’ panel aesthetic.

This was a complete supply and install project by the europanel team, resulting in the staged program dates being well and truly met.

Not everything we do is featured on our website so WMK Architecture took the initiative to pick up the phone and ask if their concept, and main design feature, of a triangular heavy duty suspended ceiling, weighing in at more than 20 tonnes, was achievable for the lobby upgrade at 65 Berry St, North Sydney.

Having worked closely with the europanel team in the past on numerous projects, especially in the early design stage, the WMK team knew the benefit this would bring to the integrity of their design and the seamless delivery guaranteed from shop drawings to factory floor to install, including the engineer certification required for such a ceiling.

With europanel’s unwavering versatility of being able to use any finish from any supplier, this meant we could offer significant cost savings for the project budget by fabricating this feature ceiling entirely from Polytec’s Natural Oak Ravine.

Close collaboration with the design team at Geyer during the VE stage of the project resulted in a cost-effective outcome for the unique kidney shaped ceilings, designed for the breakout areas on levels 3, 8 and 14, by using prefinished perforated euroHUSH panels which didn’t compromise their design aesthetic.

We installed a custom euroBLADE ceiling within the HUB on Level 7, working in close partnership with Euroline who had the joinery package for the project, utilising their prefinished beam support structure to visually create an “alfresco” look and feel.

As with most projects, the program was extremely tight so the use of prefinished materials and europanel carrying out the installation, maximised the opportunity of meeting all of the program deadlines.

Our custom euroBLADE was used to dramatic, and deliberate effect, by WMK Architecture in their design for this entry lobby ceiling, flowing through to the workplace, for the ACS’ new headquarters in Barangaroo.

These large battens visually guide you into, and through, the space by lineally following the curve of the lobby walls, elegantly finished in black polyurethane to create an impressive feature. The strip lighting was integrated into the battens and the soundmesh backing was omitted from the installation to give greater visual depth when viewed from below.

No stranger to the truly bespoke nature of the europanel products, the team at Hassell designed a beautifully unique ceiling befitting the stature of the State Library of NSW where it was being housed.

Our euroHUSH panel product was perfect for this application of perforations that transitioned from smaller holes at one edge, through to larger holes in the centre, and back through to smaller holes on the opposite edge. These perforations were fabricated across the entire length of the curved vaulted ceiling panels and achieved the NRC rating applied by the acoustic engineer consulting on the project.

BSPN sought out our advice on what systems were available to them to achieve their design intent for a wave-blade installation for the ceilings above the gaming areas in their refurbishment of the Brothers Leagues Club in Ipswich.

With our production team being able to work in close partnership with the BSPN design team, we were able to deliver this stunning design element whilst managing to bring the overall supply cost down by incorporating all service cut outs and additional black substrate for the hanging pendants (identified on the shop drawings) during fabrication, making for a seamless and clean installation by the contractors on site.

Europanel supplied and installed a very large quantity of product, inclusive of euroHUSH solid faced V-grooved polyurethane finished – curved and flat – wall panels, euroBLADE S2 solid Blackbutt timber wall cladding and euroBLADE S1 in Polytec Natural Oak Ravine finish to large areas of ceiling.

This was a fast-tracked program with installation occurring, in tandem, over 12 levels in a newly built 6 Star Green Star rated commercial tower development in the heart of Parramatta for the NSW Government.

Investa’s relocation within Sydney’s CBD and adoption of an agile workplace was supported with areas for retreat, collaboration and connection and the space appropriate acoustics accomplished by the purposeful use of euroTEX acoustic panels covered in soft shades of Kvadrat Maharam’s Remix and Canvas textiles to create a calm aesthetic in this fitout.

Savills adoption of a flexible, agile work environment without offices or allocated desks incorporated a series of quiet rooms that benefited from the installation of our euroTEXTURE panels above the work bench, colour matched to disappear into the wall, improving the quality of the reverberation of sound within the space.

Suncorp Group and Geyer win Gold in the interior retail category at the Design 100 Sydney Design Awards!

europanel were the perfect partner for Geyer’s award winning design of Suncorp’s concept store in Parramatta, customising our S1 euroBLADE battens, prefinished in Polytec Ravine to create the relaxed, non-corporate agile environment for Suncorp’s new brand strategy on building an experience beyond banking by delivering an immersive experience for their customers.

Our euroSPLINE lightweight beams, finished in natural timber veneer, mitred to frame the retail space within the mall, physically endorsed from first encounter their philosophy of building a better experience rather than a quicker one.

Engaging europanel early in the design process to liaise with the project’s consultants resulted in encapsulating all service cut outs during the shop drawing stage, prior to manufacture, culminating in a seamless installation for europanel and the trades on site, minimising the impact on a tight project timeframe and working within the challenging ‘live’ shopping centre environment.

It was a privilege to work with the team from Geyer again on such a significant project in changing and challenging the traditional way of banking.

Wilson Parking and the head contractor engaged europanel early in the project program to help find solutions to supply and install the architect’s design intent for the Hoop Pine solid timber wall cladding and the Polytec Natural Oak Ravine prefinished reception screen within a very tight project timeframe.

By providing project specific shop drawings, the hanging system could be installed prior to the builder’s application of the ‘Sonaspray’ acoustic treatment to the ceiling slab above the reception screen saving time and money.

Architectus custom designed the laser cuts in a leaf pattern in our euroHUSH product, manufactured out of black MDF substrate, and used as a feature on the corridor ceilings within a two level building refurbishment project to house Health Support Queensland’s new offices. The panels were manufactured and shipped to site within a six week lead time with all service cut-outs integrated during manufacture.

With every site in the national roll-out of refreshed ANZ branches being unique, and the organic nature of the bulkheads, europanel devised a ceiling template system which allowed the partition contractor to build the bulkheads immediately after site possession in readiness for the euroBLADE installation four weeks later. This creative solution was critical in meeting the tight 6 week programme of a branch’s transformation.

europanel worked closely with WMK Architecture on a custom designed euroBLADE set-out that would enable less cutting down of the battens to accommodate services and lighting requirements in between the blades.

This euroBLADE design, with two different insulation types, was then exclusively tested in the ‘Acoustically Isolated Reverberation Chamber’ at RMIT University in Melbourne to meet the acoustic consultant’s design, analysis and acoustic modelling to make these retail spaces more productive and to enhance the overall customer experience.

euroBLADE has been supplied to stores in QLD, NSW, VIC and SA accompanied by installation shop drawings for the batten ceilings and templates.

The total refurbishment of Macquarie Group’s existing space at No.1 Martin Place included a massive stair void spanning from Level 1 to Level 7 creating an impressive atrium space which was clad in euroHUSH, fabricated out of fire resistant black MDF and finished in white polyurethane. The return panels to the underside of the soffits were mitred.

The perforations to the panels were custom designed and also used on breakout area ceilings.

Bates Smart required a prefinished lightweight beam that could be manufactured to suit the curve of the Porte Cochere ceiling designed for QT Bondi.

The beams were constructed from marine grade plywood, fully sealed in 2 pack polyurethane to withstand exposure to the humid sea salt environ of the Bondi beachfront location.

europanel were able to supply the lighting fabricator with a CAD file weeks before the installation so the linear LED light fittings could be manufactured to the exact curve of the ceiling and seamlessly integrated into the beam installation.

The installation included a custom suspension system that not only needed to support the weight of the beams but the weight of two servicemen to access the mechanical and lighting above the sound mesh via strategically placed gantries.

Buildcorp wanted to improve the acoustics in their main boardroom and very much liked the look of euroBLADE S3 in Western Red Cedar which suited the aesthetic of the warehouse feel in their office at Camperdown.

The sound quality created by the initial installation led to them to remove the metal blade ceiling in the reception and waiting area with the same product, extending it through to lift lobby.

The layout of the second installation was crucial as the boardroom could be opened up to the reception area and the join in the panels had to appear seamless.

The acoustic qualities of our euroBLADE S3 were perfectly suited for Westpac’s client floor ambiance, manufactured out of solid American Oak and Spotted Gum to suit the prestige of their new tenancy in Barangaroo.

There was 500+ square metres of euroBLADE supplied to two joinery companies, accompanied by installation shop drawings, to clad walls in boardrooms, meeting areas and corridors. The product was also integrated into joinery items.

All timber for the project was FSC and PEFC sourced to meet the project’s Greenstar requirements.

europanel collaborated with Architectus on the solid timber screen system that spanned a height of 4.2 metres with non-visible fixing points at the top and bottom of the battens to form a moving visual barrier, screening off the lobby area on Level 1, whilst also functioning as a decorative balustrade.

A purpose made continuous steel bracket was manufactured and installed onto the wall framework prior to the plasterboard sheeting being applied for the base fixing points and an MDF top plate with slots that the beams would be inserted into also installed prior to the walls being set, sanded and painted prior to the Victorian Ash beams being installed.

europanel supplied and installed Spotted Gum solid timber panelling to 13 lift lobbies and 26 bathrooms in the base building refurbishment of 2 Constitution Avenue in Canberra.

In order to minimise the noise and vibration disturbance to the building’s tenants, specifically Australian Border Security, 50 percent of the project was installed during the night.

The wall cladding was prefabricated in panel form, completely sealed and finish coated to all faces, to prohibit any moisture loss that might occur from the pressurisation airflow from open elevator doors and elevator shaft leakage from the moving lifts, resulting in warping or bowing of solid timber.

europanel collaborated closely with the lift reveal contractor, to agreed onsite measurements, so the panels could be manufactured prior to lift reveals being installed in order to meet the construction program.

CKDS Architecture desired an exposed beam aesthetic in their upgrade design for the Junction Fair Shopping Centre in Newcastle.

europanel supplied and installed the lightweight prefinished euroSPLINE beams to an aluminium framework support system which was suspended off the existing centre roof structure.

Installation was carried out at night in order for the centre to remain open during trading hours.

The refurbishment of Heinemann Duty Free at Sydney International Airport saw europanel supply and install over 2,000 square metres of prefinished euroBLADE ceilings.

Working closely with Geyer on the initial concepts, europanel developed a unique Customised Batten System to enable the integration of lighting and service requirements into the ceiling and meet the Fire Group Certification required by the Airport Corporation.

To assist builders MPA Projects in achieving handover dates, europanel supplied full size templates for the onsite partitioners to utilise for their setout of all the bulkheads that intersected within the batten ceiling area.

With a tight 12 week lead time for completion, europanel performed a large quantity of installation outside of standard business hours to minimise disruption to the client.

Designers from the Geyer Studio in Sydney incorporated our euroSPLINE product to their design concept for the ceiling space in the entry foyer to the Badham Building Library on the Sydney University Campus.

As the euroSPLINE ‘custom’ beam is fabricated with a hollow area through the centre, the lighting required for the space could be easily installed to the beams concealing all wiring of the downlights. As always all cut-outs were carried out during production in our factory, and also removable access panels were incorporated to the top face of the eurospline beams, which allowed for faster installation onsite by partitioners and electricians.

Early involvement by europanel in the initial concepts of Westfield’s Design on the recent 400 million dollar redevelopment of the Miranda Centre, opened up a great opportunity for europanel to create, supply and install a totally customised euroBLADE system to the Fresh Food Market, an area of around 1,800 square metres of ceiling space. By utilising a system of 10 different ceiling frame types, we were able to meet the individual needs of shop owners food premises classifications, while still maintaining the original design feel of depth where required with open frame designs. Also while making every frame type accessible to services above for future maintenance.

europanel also supplied and installed over 1,000m² metres of euroHUSH – prefinished tongue and groove ceiling finishes which also comprised of champagne stainless steel troughs, for that added stylish touch to these Cross Mall Ceilings on three levels that lead shoppers to the High Fashion area of the centre.

All work from design to completion was carried out within a tight eight month period.

With the continual growth of the Apple brandname, more office space for their iTunes department within sydney’s CBD was highly sought after, and Geyer Sydney were appointed as the designer to create Apple iTunes new headquaters. Using light veneers throughout the refurbishment, euroHUSH S2 design in a soft Rock Maple veneer finish was the specified europanel product which complimented the other joinery items, while giving the required acoustic treatment for the narrow office space created within the existing building confines.

Group GSA implimented the euroBLADE S1 by specifying it in 4 Australian Federal Police headquarter locations being Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Cairns. euroBLADE worked off architecturals and offered site specific shop drawings of each individual area, so the onsite contractor could do a check measure, with which after a few adjustments europanel manufactured and delivered for ‘supply only’ a perfect product ready for ‘made to measure’ installation.

Quintessential Equity approached europanel for our advice on a lobby ceiling in one of their existing buildings. We applied again our ‘shaped batten’ light detail to the design, which involved the euroblade needing to be custom made specifically to suit the curves and angles of existing bulkhead areas. By fabricating the ceiling to suit the space, this allowed Quintessential Equity to only need minor modifications to the existing bulkheads resulting in a lower budget cost for the lobby renovation. This entire Installation at a height of nearly six metres, was carried out ‘out of hours’ in a single weekend.

When CBRE Melbourne recently planned a refurbishment to their No. 8 Exhibition St Melbourne office, WMK worked with europanel to develop a customised euroBLADE design, only fitting for such a high profile client as CBRE. This design was initially based on our standard S1 design, however to make a difference we added a ‘Shaped Lighting Detail’ to the battens, which created the illuminated ellipse within the blade system. Again europanel delivered on time, within a four week programme on an interstate project.

europanel was approached by the client to assist in the design process and offer an acoustic solution to walls and ceilings that also suited the large space. euroBlade was used in Western Red Cedar solid timber finish.

In such a busy environment of a club bistro area, euroBLADE S1 was a perfect choice by Altis Architecture to offer a beautiful 300+ square metre feature ceiling while delivering amazing acoustic treatment at the same time. With the floor of the restaurant level being split over three different levels, a staggered batten pattern was drawn up with the battens interlocking when a step in ceiling height was required, this created a seamless flow from one ceiling to the next. Creating a relaxing environment for club members and guests.

When programmes are tight, great coordination is required from all trade and service providers on large projects. And Dee Why RSL’s Gaming area upgrade was absolutely no exception. Situated directly in the middle of an ‘open for business’ gaming area, europanel fabricated the Altis ‘Triangular’ design wall panelling well before walls were actually built to measure off. Due to the triangular shape dimensions, very calculated millimetre was critical in order for the panelling to be installed and the edges of the intersecting triangles to meet precisely. Yet again europanel delivered on time, defect free!

On a recent refurbishment of their newly aquired asset of 91 Phillip St Parramatta Fortius Fund Management commisioned Gray Puksand to design a fresh feel to the existing entrance and Ground Floor lift lobby of the existing Building. Europanel worked with Gray Puksand offering a complete service from samples and design concepts throught to out of hours installation in a single weekend. europanel installed large sized American Oak Euroblade to the Lobby Ceiling mitreing up the front Bulkhead to a height of 5m.

europanel collaborated with the architect and the builder to explore the options in producing a prefinished product that assisted in maintaining the budget whilst achieving the desired aesthetic outcome for the refurbishment of Equinix’s office relocation to Alexandria.

Geyer complemented the design of Garmin’s new head office at Eastern Creek, Western Sydney with our euroBLADE S3 in American White oak to the Ground level foyer and stairwells on Levels 1 and 2.
europanel undertook the site measure, provided shop drawings and delivered the product on time
for the Contractor’s partitioning sub‐contractor to install with ease.

BVN Donovan Hill specified euroHUSH and euroBLADE in the new purpose built facility for Australian Catholic University’s college in Berry St, North Sydney for the education of students for both teaching and training in health services and providing a facility whereby doctors can practice.

Our euroHUSH S9 perforated panel in a natural white polyurethane finish was used to great effect by staggering the installation of the panels in the atrium space surrounding the open stairwell spanning the whole 5 levels.

Our euroBLADE S1 in solid Blackbutt timber created a visual feature to the ceilings in the Ground floor café and students’ breakout area.

The europanel team was engaged early in the design process as part of a D&C contract to work closely with the architect to produce the critical acoustic ratings required for a 385 person auditorium while achieving the desired aesthetic outcome and coordinating the installation with the technical services required. There were a few onsite challenges encountered and overcome; the installation of the ceiling panels within a minimal ceiling space, that housed multiple services, was achieved without any change to the original design or compromising the acoustic absorption. euroHUSH S4 custom in a natural spotted gum veneer with a 30% Clear Polyurethane Satin finish was specified.

europanel have successfully delivered an acoustically appropriate space to support the ongoing teachings of the next generation of medical professionals. The project was officially opened on the 1 November 2013 by Her Excellency Professor Marie R Bashir AC CVO along with state and federal government representation.

Lion Nathan’s recent move to expand their existing office requirement in NSW was realised by refurbishing and fitting out an existing building located in Homebush. Two of europanel’s products were supplied and installed in this creative office environment, euroHUSH acoustic ceiling panelling finished in white polyurethane above the open office work spaces and veneered euroSPLINE ‘lightweight beams’ above breakout areas.

The refurbishment of The University of Technology Sydney’s Arts and Social Sciences space in the ‘Bon Marche’ building at the Broadway campus provided europanel the opportunity to supply only (installation by onsite contractors) euroHUSH acoustic panelling finished in Red Heart Gum veneer and euroSPLINE ‘lightweight beams’ in a high gloss ‘Dulux Conceptual Green’ finish. The overall project programme was carried out over a Christmas shutdown and europanel’s ability to manufacture locally and in a short time frame enabled the fitout contractor to adhere to their tight programme to complete the project inside the school holiday period.

The europanel team worked collaboratively with the Woods Bagot team on their unique concept for perforated euroHUSH panelling in creating the form of a street map design for NAB’s MLC Campus’ lift lobby on Level 2. europanel supplied and installed on a tight programme which relied on working in tandem with onsite electricians as a large number of the perforations had LED lighting attached to the back of the removable panels to create a distinctive feature.

Red Cross were required to upgrade the acoustics in their meeting rooms. europanel were approached to assist in meeting a NRC rating specified by an acoustic consultant. europanel provide a range of options to Red Cross through its design and sign off process that met the requirements and gave a solution to the space.
